So, I have posted three times today and this is the fourth. There’s a method to my madness. I have to send my computer off to be repaired, and I wanted to get some posts made before I do that. I’ll be sing dh’s machine while mine is gone, but I don’t want to have to be at it all the time, so I am beavering away tonight. I know I’ll have mine back way before it’s time to print the Halloween invitations, but when you are used to having your own machine, set up just so, then it’s a real drag to have to share.

Okay, I try. Sometimes, harder than others, but I do usually make the effort to attempt to place the keyword I need to use in a post that is at least slightly related to pictures or photography. Or lighting. Or something. But this one has me stuck: Ebac dehumidifiers, because the only photographic thing I can think of to say about those is, “I bet they hired a photographer for their publicity shots.” See, not my best work. Not by a long shot.

which is kind of unusual, don’t you think? We camped for three days, but I only took four shots, and three of those were at one time. Usually trips and family fun are great picture generators, but I just didn’t get into it this time. Seems like I was constantly on the go, with no time to stop until after dark. Weird.

It’s of our camping set up. it takes a lot of stuff to camp with 9 people. No, make that 12 people, because we had a couple of extras. We use two tents, plus a dining canopy. We carry the small items in plastic bins. We could use those in a pinch as walk in tubs for little people, if we ever make it farther than the back yard, LOL!

How’s the Spring Thaw going where you are? Still no pictures for you, but plenty of weather report! We are having crazy weather. One evening we broil and the next we need a hoodie. And by we, I mean I, and by evening, I mean “while I walk”. I do not understand how the kids walk all summer long on that road! It’s as hot as metal roofing by the middle of the day, and yet, there they are: shoeless, tanned and apparently not in pain. That’s some endorphin rush, baby!

My camera, that is. I moved it in the hopes that I would see it before I left on my walk today, if dh even gets home in time for me to go. Perhaps tomorrow there will be pictures of my neighborhood. And also the golf course behind my neighborhood. Don’t be getting excited and break out the Cobra golf gear. The course is part of an exclusive community, and umm, I don’t live in that one, see. I love in this one, the one with the locked gate that separates the riffraff on this side from the hoity toity on that side. God forbid that mobile homes on half acre lots should be next to $300,000 on postage stamp sized lots. with no fence between them.

The other day, quite by accident, I took a photo of Batman using the portrait setting. I kinda liked the way it diminished the appearance of clutter in the background. I had tried it before with SPS, but I found that it washed my face out too much in comparison with the background. OTOH, it works really well if I am more than arms length from the subject. I’ll be using it the next time I do portraits, which I am planning to do on the next slightly overcast day). I’m wanting a day that is bright enough to avoid using the flash (which might flare off of designer jewelry ) but not so bright that it requires fill flash (same issue).

One of my favorite tools in photo editing is the clone feature. I’m sure most of you have used it already–it’s the one that allows you to pick up color from one part of a photograph and apply it to another part. Consider it to be after acne treatment the fact. I’ve used it with great success to cover up a scratch Drama had under her nose in the photo shoot I shared with ya’ll way back when. It seems kids always have a mark of some sort, doesn’t it? Anyway, I picked color from that area of her face and airbrushed it on until the spot was covered. The secret is to zoom in close, and just do a bit at a time.

So, let;s say you have that new camera, and maybe a fancy pants lens or two. You use them to take photos of your kids, and also for your work. Are they tools or toys? Tax deductible or have to eat it? Where do you draw the line? Why do you draw it there? What circumstances would change where you think the line is?

I know I said I was going to take my camera with me when I went on a walk again. Is anyone surprised to hear that this has not happened? I keep meaning too, and I keep remembering. Right as I pass the mailbox. Considering as it takes a major feat for me to get out the door, I am not about to risk coming back in after it. Good think no one is counting on me to photograph Winter Park real estate for them, huh?
